2014 Mazda 3 Review: Fat Price Tag Make Other Vehicles More Desirable

The Mazda 3 has just been released but to the horror of many, the compact sedan has a fat price tag. This is surprising as the Mazda 3 is a C-segment vehicle and it just one grand short of the D-segment Honda Accord.

Mazda, on the other hand, claims that the pricing is justified as the Mazda 3 comes with SkyActiv technology. The latter is basically a tuning system that enhances the Mazda 3’s handling and fuel consumption.

True enough, SkyActiv did just that as the compact sedan was crowned as the most fuel efficient in its segment, while also being able to maintain grip on the roads at alltimes.

On the downside of things, the Japanese carmaker has failed to sound proof the Mazda 3.Even when cruising at 60km/h, the compact sedan emits so much wind and tyre noise. Also, the SkyActiv system is too focused on fuel efficiency that power has been disregarded. In short, the Mazda 3 feels underpowered and it requires high revs to pull out the ponies.

All in all, we feel that the Mazda 3 price tag is not justified at all. As great as the vehicle is, one can opt for other sedans that have more to offer at a lesser price.
