Mazda has launched the all-new Mazda 3 last month but sales of the compact sedan have been really slow ever since. This is contradicting the fact that the Mazda 3 was the most talked about vehicle prior to its release. Consumers revealed that they find the compact sedan too expensive to own and questions its price tag.
Mazda, on the other hand, claims that the Mazda 3’s price tag is justified as it comes with the new SkyActiv technology. The latter basically enhances the vehicle’s fuel consumption while also offering better handling.
True enough, we tested the Mazda 3 and found it to be nothing like its predecessor. The compact sedan tackled every hurdle on the roads superbly well. The SkyActiv technology enabled us to swift at every bends and sharp turns with is as the car maintains its grip on the road. Furthermore, the fuel mileage we received is by far the best in the segment.
Of course, the Mazda 3 is not entirely perfect. The compact sedan is poorly insulated that it annoys the living hell out of us. Even when driving at 60km/h, we can hear the loud bass sound produced from the wind and also the rumbling tyre noise. In addition to that, the SkyActiv technology actually made the Mazda 3 feels underpowered. We struggled to hit the high-revs, even after flooring the gas paddle.
Price-wise, we have to agree with the consumers. The Mazda 3 is too costly for what it is. Heck, it is only a few quid short of a D-segment vehicle. Might as well spend the money elsewhere and get more in return.
