We are approaching an end to what have been a fabulous year in a couple of months’ time and upt until today, a long list of great vehicles have made their debut. Now, we believe that it is time to reveal the best car to come from Japan. (Drum roll…)
The winner goes to, the Mazda 2. The car had just been crowned as the best Japanese vehicle this year as it managed to come on top of rivals such as the Toyota Harrier, Lexus NX, Nissan Teana, Infiniti Q50 and Subaru Levorg.
This isn’t surprising really as the Mazda 2 runs on the award winning 1.5L diesel engine with the SkyActiv technology, together with the stylish KODO-Soul of Motion design language. The former, in particular, confirmed that it is the most environmental friendly car in its segment while also being able to offer great power.
The Mazda 2’s victory also brought the title back to Japan after it escaped the nation for the first time by the Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI. At the moment, the German hatchback is the one and only vehicle that has been crowned as Japan’s Car of the Year.
It is also worth noting that throughout the 34-years where the award has been given out, the Mazda 2 is the fifth vehicle from the car manufacturer that managed to win it.
