The latest Hyundai Elantra is built to offer speed, power, comfort and efficiency. Like-wise, the same can be said for the new Mazda 3. However, which mid-sized sedan should consumers opt for?
The Elantra, in particular, runs on a 148hp 1.8 liter gas 4 cylinder engine fixed to a six speed manual. The sedan can achieve 29mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. Hyundai also equipped the Elantra with climate control A/C, power exterior mirror control, satellite radio, audio input jack, and the standard USB and iPod connection. One can own the Elantra for just $16,695.
Then there is the Mazda 3. The sedan from Japan is powered by a 155hp 2.0 liter gas 4 cylinder operated with a six speed manual. The car is able to achieve 29mpg on the city and 41mpg on highways. While it may not be much, the Mazda 3 is still more efficient than the Elantra.
The Mazda 3 is also packed with features like 1-touch windows, keyless entry, keyless ignition, sport seats, and the standard audio input jack and USB/iPod connection. Safety features include active head restraints, EBD, rear center 3-point belt and rear door child safety locks. The Mazda 3 retails at $16,945.
All in all, it is the Mazda 3 that is the better car. It might be slightly more expensive than the Elantra but consumers will get their money’s worth.
