Hot hatchbacks have always sold well in Malaysia and the Honda Jazz is the best example of it. Released earlier this year, the Jazz can accommodate a total of 5 passengers as it runs on the FWD system.
In terms of design, the sporty shape of the Jazz makes it an appealing car. It has a boxy style that somehow resembles an MPV. Of course, getting the Jazz means that drivers will have to get the body kit as well. This is to remove that MPV impression and turn it into a chick’s magnet.
Under the hood, the Jazz sports a 16-valve SOHC 1.5-litre i-VTEC, paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 118bhp and 145Nm that offers a satisfying performance. However, the Jazz does not come with confidence as pushing the car to the limit can produce undesirable sound.
Furthermore, the Jazz can be a pain when running on the mountain roads. Every sharp turn at high speed felt like the Jazz is going to tumble over. However, it is worth noting that the Jazz has some good geometry with its suspensions to keep the car planted on the road.
Inside the cabin, the Jazz arrived with all the basic features and connectivity options. The seats are carefully positioned to get the most space out of the crammed interior. Honda has got it right as the Jazz is able to accommodate 5 passengers easily at one time.
All in all, the Jazz is a decent, but not a special car to own. The Jazz will make a great beginner vehicle for those that have just got their license as it is both cheap and efficient at the same time.
