Both the Honda Accord and the Nissan Altima had been updated earlier this year and are regarded as two of the best mid-size sedan at the moment. However, there can only be one best sedan and today, we shall single out a winner from the duo.
Looking at the Altima, the vehicle is powered by a 182hp, 2.5 liter inline 4 engine mated to an automatic transmission which channels the ponies to the front wheels. This returns 7 mpg in the city and 38mpg on the highway. On a full tank, the Altima is able to cover a distance of up to 684 miles.
In terms of value, the Altima has a resale figure of 56% after 3 years and 40% after 5 years. The sedan is also a safe bet as it comes with 5-star safety ratings from NHTSA. One can own the Altima from just $22,280.
Then there is the Honda Accord. The sedan runs on a 185hp, 2.4 liter inline 4 engine paired to a six speed manual transmission. Running on the FWD system, the Accord returns 24mpg in the city and 34mpg on the highway. Also, the vehicle can travel up to 585 miles on a full tank.
The Accord is able to retain 58% of its price tag after 3 years and 46% after 5 years. Safety-wise the sedan only managed 4-star ratings from NHTSA. Honda sells the entry level model at $21,680.
Judging from the stats above, we feel that the Nissan Altima is the winner. It might not have the better resale value but the fact that it is more fuel efficient makes it the better choice overall.
