2014 Honda Accord Review: Another Good But Boring Sedan

Earlier this year, Honda launched the new Accord and it had some mixed reaction from the public. The long –serving name from Japan has been among the best-selling vehicles, which left us wondering why sales for the new Accord are not as explosive as before.

Comparing it with the previous Accord, this new saloon is more compact and has minor improvements to its design. Nevertheless, owners can still fit in 4 golf bags in the boot like the previous model.

The major difference is with the Advanced Driver Assist System. It is basically a pack of electrical instruments that a blind spot watcher camera and a self-steering lane keeping assistant. However, the latter can only operate at 30km/h or less. Then again, the Accord is the closest thing to a fully automated steering system, which will surely be the way of the future.

It seems that the Honda Accord has got it all. When driving, the steering got so light to a point where it has no feel at all. However, the Accord is still a powerhouse as it comes with a 3.5L petrol engine that delivers 206kW and 339Nm. The six-cylinder is operated with the new six-speed auto gearbox.

Even on the interior, everything is so neatly done. All drivers have to do is play some classical instrumental music and they might get the ambience of a hotel lobby. Then again, consumers should not expect anything premium as Honda uses plastics to keep cost at bay.

All in all, there is no way we can criticize the Accord. It is just a decent car. There is nothing bad about it. Then again, driving the Accord will give you the long face as it is boring.
