2014 Ford Bronco To Go Eco (Rumor)

Sports utility vehicle fans have always held the Ford Bronco in high regard, but it’s been a few decades since we’ve seen an updated version of the Bronco. We’re hearing talk of an Eco-Boost or diesel-powered Bronco, and there might actually be some weight behind these rumours.

It’s rumoured that Ford is developing a 2015 Bronco based on the 2015 Ford F-150 body. This vehicle will compete with the Jeep Wrangler engines and might have a 5-litre V8 with a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 and a 4.5-itre turbodiesel. This turbodiesel would compete with Chrysler’s EcoDiesel engine.

The Jeep Wrangler might also get a diesel engine, making this the ideal time for Ford to go diesel as well. Chrysler is selling as many Wranglers as it can actually make, and Ford has had a lot of success with its F-150 Raptor and hybrid sales. A hybrid Bronco wouldn’t just be fun to drive, it would also be efficient.

If there is a new Bronco, it’ll replace the Raptor, as long as it has four wheel drive as a standard in the four-door and two-door versions. Ford has said it’ll launch two dozen or so different models this year, so we might see a new, rugged Bronco that also boasts EcoBoost and diesel engines!
