Hybrid vehicles are growing in popularity after a series of fuel price hike automatically create awareness among the many road users. Chevrolet is aware of the need for a fuel economic vehicle that does not jeopardize performance and thus, the creation of the Volt sedan.
The vehicle is able to accommodate 4 passengers at once and is built on the FWD architecture. Design-wise, the Volt looks decent as it comes with a blocked grille and upswept rear end with a glass area to minimize the blind spot.
Like most hybrid vehicles, the Volt comes with two different motors. The main source of kinetic energy comes from the Ecotec 1.4-liter internal combustion range-extender engine. This is paired to a 16.5kW electric motor that accumulates 382 miles of travelling distance when in operation as well. On the EV engine alone, the Volt can hit 38 miles with a single charge.
This is particularly impressive and helpful for daily commuting from work to office. Also, a trip can be really entertaining thanks to the ECO button which feedbacks on the driver’s driving style.
For a simple, straightforward hybrid sedan, the Volt is well equipped with tons of features like start-stop button, light dip for signals, USB support, power socket, armrest, multi-purpose steering, MyLink system, leather-wrapped, heated seats and Bose premium speakers.
The entry level Chevrolet Volt is priced at $39,995 while the top of the line variant retails at $44,545. Of course, this is really costly for a sedan but on the long run, the hybrid system should offer more savings than any other vehicles.
