If Lenin was a car enthusiast, he wouldn’t have screamed out ‘peace, land, bread’. Instead, the Russian icon will chant ‘power, efficiency, value!’ Of course, the only vehicle that is synonymous to those words is the all-new Chevrolet Volt.
The electric/petrol hybrid hatchback has just been released and it surely takes green energy to a whole new level. The Chevrolet Volt comes with 4-seats, inclusive of the driver seat. The normal centre seat on the second row has been removed to free up space.
The Volt offers a solid driving experience as it handles the rough roads well. Of course, the car still wobbles when at the poorest road conditions. On the other hand, the comfort is not disrupted as there is no noise to begin with. Even when on the outside, it is difficult to listen to the whispers of the engine.
For a compact hatchback, the Chevy Volt is considered a heavyweight as it weighs 1,750kg. The car is powered by a 2L mill that offers a whopping 237lb ft of torque. On electric energy, the car can travel up to 235 miles on a single charge. When utilizing both the petrol and electric motor, the car emits only 27g/km of CO2.
The stats above are so much better than the Toyota Prius. The latter has long been the number one choice for a hybrid vehicle but it is finally defeated by the Volt.
On the downside of things, the American hatchback can be really costly to own. Then again, it will save the driver a lot of petrol dollars in the long run.
