Come 2016, Audi will be launching the all-new Q1 and it will be the first of the many crossover SUVs that are coming for release on that same year.
This upcoming car will do away with the jacked-up A1 platform and will utilize the VW Group’s scalable MQB base instead. Under the hood, the Q1 will be equipped with a tiny 1.0L petrol engine that is improved from the ones on the A1 Supermini and the VW up!
Audi will also introduce a new series of diesel engines that comes with start/stop functions. They are identified as the 1.4L TDI and a 1.6L TDI. They will be operated by a 6-speed manual transmission or the VW’s new 10-speed DSG. This is exciting as the DSG gearbox is possibly the best transmission system in the world.
Over at the interior, Audi will be adopting a more minimalistic design, much like the A1-8 series. There will be the all-familiar MMI system to control the switches and entertainment hub.
All in all, the small-sized Q1 will certainly make it big as it becomes the first of 60 Audi models that are expected to arrive before 2020. Consumers can expect this mini beast to make its debut in 2015, before getting launched in Q1 2016.
