While the Samsung Galaxy S2 is in the backseat in the smartphone race as it tries to catch up to the iPhone 4S in terms of worldwide sales, when it comes to HDTVs the Korean giant stands on top.
Samsung executive not worried about Apple iTV
However as of earlier this year, rumors of an upcoming Apple HDTV coming into the market have gotten buyers excited. Samsung on the other hand sees the Apple iTV as no threat. Speaking with Pocket-Lint, Samsung’s AV Product Manager Chris Moseley made it clear that when it comes to HDTVs, picture quality comes first, and Samsung can’t be beat:
”We’ve not seen what they’ve [Apple] done but what we can say is that they don’t have 10,000 people in R&D in the vision category… They don’t have the best scaling engine in the world and they don’t have world renowned picture quality that has been awarded more than anyone else… TVs are ultimately about picture quality. Ultimately. How smart they are…great, but let’s face it that’s a secondary consideration. The ultimate is about picture quality and there is no way that anyone, new or old, can come along this year or next year and beat us on picture quality,” Moseley told Pocket-lint.
We’ve seen the new range of HDTVs Samsung unveiled at CES 2012 back in January and have to agree that they are the current leader. So it will be interesting to see what Apple has cooked up.
