In what appeared to be a very detailed and 3-page long story by the New York Times on the future of the publishing industry, did the paper stuff in some interesting details regarding the future plans of Barnes & Noble:
“Barnes & Noble is trying to strike at Amazon with another device. At its labs in Silicon Valley last week, engineers were putting final touches on their fifth e-reading device, a product that executives said would be released sometime this spring. (A Barnes & Noble spokeswoman declined to elaborate.)”, reported the New York Times.
Now the next obvious question is what exactly B&N plans to pack in the next-generation Nook Color. With tough competition from the Amazon Kindle Fire and the iPad 2, as well as rumors of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 in the works, B&N will need the “wow” factor in order to gain customer interest some how or other.
5th generation Barnes & Noble Nook Color to take on Amazon Kindle Fire, iPad 2, Galaxy Tab…
While the current Nook tablet’s sales aren’t anything to be disappointed about, the Amazon Kindle Fire is taking the market at an alarming rate and Barnes & Noble definitely needs to keep an eye on that.
