It has now been close to 3 months since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was announced and a while from when Google announced the rollout of the Android 4.0 update to Google Nexus S owners. However to date, many Nexus S owners have yet to receive the latest update. Why?
Google Nexus S Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update halted
If you’re one of the many Google Nexus S owners who received the notification about the impending update and have been checking your phone daily to see if it has become available, you can relax for a while as it may have been halted. According to Google Community manager Paul Wilcox, you may be in for a wait:
“If you received an update notification a little while ago but the update isn’t currently available for your phone, this is likely the result of Google pausing the update in your area while we monitor feedback.”
Of course this isn’t the case for all Nexus S users and that may be the reason behind the animosity. There have been wide scale reports that many Nexus S users in Europe have been sporting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (and a version that is newer than the one found on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus) for almost a month now.
Hang in there folks, Google should resume with the update shortly.
