Samsung Hints Android JellyBean For Galaxy S3 & Note

It’s been just days since Google announced Android 4.1 JellyBean, but Android fans are already clamoring to find out if their devices will get JB. Samsung is the most popular of Android phone makers and so feels some extra pressure to announce its upgrade plans. HTC responded fast by saying that a lot of its handsets will support JB, but that it’s “reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule.” Well now Samsung also has an announcement about Jelly Bean to please its fans:

“Samsung will soon announce which additional devices are eligible for the Jelly Bean update. As the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, Samsung leads the Android community with best-in-class devices like the Galaxy S3, and is creating new device categories with products like the Galaxy Note,” ran a company statement. “Samsung has delivered the most Nexus-branded lead OS devices and we are pleased that Google will be bringing Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S customers the first experiences of Jelly Bean on a handheld device.”

Samsung Android 4.1 JellyBean update confirmed for Galaxy Nexus & Nexus S; Galaxy S3 & Note look likely

OK – we’re none the wiser. We get that Samsung is happy about Google bringing JellyBean to the Nexus and Nexus S and how they called out the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note. But when will this happen?

It’s unlikely that Samsung, HTC etc. will drag their feet to get the update to customers. Ice Cream Sandwich is almost a year old and is still only on 7.1% of Android devices. Google has said it’ll try to help vendors roll out OS updates faster, and although it hasn’t lived up to this promise yet, JellyBean could be the turnaround OS.
