The iPhone 5 from Apple could release two months ahead of schedule. According to news blog 247Emirates, it was suggested that the iPhone 5 would be revealed in October originally, but it is now believed to be rushed into August due to a major sales threat.
iPhone 5 release date tipped for August due to Samsung Galaxy S3 success
Apple have some stiff competition in the form of Samsung with the launch of the Galaxy S3 and it is thought that Apple will hit back with their latest incarnation of the iPhone i.e iPhone 5. 247Emirates cites a report by Taiwan’s Central News Agency that claims shares of Apple’s suppliers in Taiwan have begun moving up. Apple released the iPhone 4S in October of last year and it was suggested that they would release the iPhone 5 at the same time this year. Thanks to competition from Samsung they may now want to enter their latest iPhone much earlier in order to ensure more sales aren’t lost.
An executive of Samsung had been quoted as saying that they expect to sell around 10 million Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets by the end of July. If this happens it would be the fastest ever selling Android phone. JK Shin, the head of the mobile division at Samsung said Samsung are expecting their second quarter results to be much better than those of the first quarter. In comparison, during this time they have doubled their profits from the year before.
Apple of course is still in battle with Samsung in the US with the judge putting a ban on the sale of the Galaxy Nexus phone in the US. The same judge also stopped the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 due to a trademark infringement and patent lawsuit.
We’ll keep you posted as more develops. And as with all rumors, especially those based on supplier reports and foreign news agencies, we suggest taking the information with a grain of salt.
