It’s only a matter of time before Apple release the iPhone 5, but will it be able to take on the Samsung Galaxy S3? The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a wonderful design and the handset has some innovative features that make it stand out. Right now there is nothing to come close to the device, so when the iPhone 5 is released, will it be able to take on the mighty S3?
Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5
Let’s take a look at just what the iPhone 5 will have to beat. First there is the 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display which provides 310ppi and a display of 1280 x 720. There are rumors that the iPhone 5 will comes with a screen of around 4 inches and have a resolution of 1280 x 720 with 367ppi and of course the display will be retina. It does have to be said that the pixel density of the S3 is more than enough.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 1.5GHz Snapdragon dual core chipset in the US. The iPhone 5 might have the A5X.
Samsung have put the latest operating system in the S3 and the iPhone 5 will also have the latest iOS, this should be iOS 6 which is reportedly coming out in October. This means that both handsets will be up to date with software. Now of course, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was announced earlier this week but Samsung was fast to act and confirmed the update would hit the S3 before the year is up. Hence on this front, the iPhone 5 may be the winner.
The Samsung Gaaxy S3 comes with a camera of 8 megapixels and there is zero shutter lag. There are rumors out there that the iPhone 5 may have a 3D camera for both video and photos. However this is not likely as 3D is not the in-thing and hasn’t gone down as well as manufacturers would have liked, as seen with the HTC EVO 3D.
When it comes down to storage the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in three flavours, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The iPhone 5 should come in similar options; however what would let the iPhone 5 down is no SD card option, as there is with the S3.
The features of the S3 are superb and include S Voice, S Beam, Smart Stay and Pop up Play. In contention the iPhone should have Siri 2.0, Face Unlock and Universal remote control plus around 200 new features that come with iOS 6 that was recently announced at WWDC 2012.
When it comes down to choosing a phone this is dependent on what your preferences are for a handset. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the best smartphone on the market right now so Apple will have to work magic if they are to beat it with their latest iPhone 5.
