A lot of people on Big Red had been hoping to see the Verizon Galaxy Note from Samsung heading their way; however they might have to settle for the Optimus Vu from LG instead. According to DroidLife, there has been an FCC filing for the handset and it has the model number LG-VS950.
Will LG Optimus Vu satisfy those waiting for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note?
Other reasons for it being on Verizon is the fact of the 4G LTE logo, the frequency at which the LTE was tested, and the model number matches with other phones from LG released on the carrier. What gives it away as being the Vu is the square form factor and the location of the speaker.
For those who are not familiar with the Vu from LG it comes with a 5-inch display and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor. It has an 8 megapixel camera and the handset is a mere 8 mm thick. It runs Gingerbread OS, has a battery of 2,080mAh and works on the 4G LTE network. So overall it appears to almost evenly match the Samsung Galaxy Note sans the smaller battery and screen.
Nevertheless it is still a rather large device and you would need sizable pockets to carry it around. Thanks to the size it feels more like a tablet than a mobile phone. The handset was rumored to be the first “phablet” to trail the success of the Samsung Galaxy Note. I guess Verizon might have picked the Vu over the Galaxy Note hence why we have yet to see Samsung’s phablet be announced on the carrier.
