HTC One X vs Nokia Lumia 900: Sexy Beasts Battle It Out

The One X from HTC and the Lumia 900 from Nokia have both been on the market for a few months now and while both are great handsets especially in terms of looks, they differ greatly in every other manner. The HTC One X comes with Android 4.0 and has connectivity for LTE while the Nokia Lumia 900 is a Windows Phone. So which should you buy?

HTC One X vs Nokia Lumia 900: Going more than just skin deep

First time buyers could well be torn between both of these handsets so here we take a look at some of the specs of each of the phones, which might sway you one way or the other. The Nokia Lumia 900 comes with rounded edges and it has a flat look on the top and bottom with an AMOLED screen size of 4.3 inches and a resolution of 480 x 800. The One X has a 4.7 inch touchscreen, Super IPS LCD2 with a resolution of 720. It comes in the shape of a candy bar and has a superior screen thanks to its 312ppi compared to the 217 ppi of the Lumia. Both of the handsets screens are covered with Gorilla Glass. Winner: HTC One X.

The Nokia Lumia 900 weighs in at 160 grams and is 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm while the HTC One X at 130 grams and 134.4 x 69.9 x 9.3 mm. So therefore the HTC One X may be bigger but it is also thinner and lighter. Winner: HTC One X.

\When it comes to cameras the Nokia Lumia 900 has an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens offering 3264 x 2448 pixel resolution with autofocus and geo-tagging. The Lumia also has a 1 megapixel front camera. The HTC One X also has an 8 megapixel camera and support for LED flash. It also records 1080p videos at 30 frames per second and in stereo. It also comes with a VGA 1.3 megapixel camera that can record video in 720p. While both come out almost equal, the HTC One X comes in on top with its better image processing chip and higher megapixel front facing camera.

The processor on the One X is a Tegra 3 quad core at 1.5 GHz with 1GB of RAM and the choice of either 32GB or 64GB internal storage. There is no option for expandable memory with an SD card. In the US it is dual core only with the Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm, however this is the S4 and hence as quick (if not more) than the quad-core overseas model. The Lumia 900 in comparison has a 1.4 GHz regular Scorpion processor and 512 MB of RAM, with 16GB internal storage and no option to expand. Winner: HTC One X.

The HTC One X runs on Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0 with the HTC Sense user interface. It comes with 25GB of Dropbox storage for 2 years and audio by Beats, plus enhanced photo and video capabilities. The Lumia has the Windows operating system 7.5 Mango and comes with Live Tile information, Twitter and LinkedIn, People hub and Facebook events integrated into the calendar. It comes with numerous other features and software. It will also be updated soon to Windows Phone 7.8, which is coming following the launch of Windows Phone 8 by Microsoft.

When it comes to battery life the One X has a Li-ion 1,800mHa battery that comes with talk time of around 8 hours. The Lumia 900 has a 1,800 mAh battery too that provides around 300 hours on standby and 7 hours of talk time, with enough battery to last for 60 hours of music playing. The winner for this round is clear once again.

The HTC One X can be bought on AT&T for $199.99 and the Lumia 900 can be purchased with the same carrier for a much lower $99.99, both phones rely on a 2 year contract.
