We’ve been keeping our fingers crossed that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Motorola DROID RAZR & MAXX would go ahead as planned for Q2 with Verizon. However DroidLife has reported that these hopes were shattered with a message via Facebook that it was to be delayed in one region already – Australia.
Motorola DROID RAZR Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update already delayed in Australia, announcement for other regions expected soon
The update had been announced back in February for Q2 and despite there being many leaked builds of the update appear online it seems that there are still some issues with it and this will stop it from being pushed out on time in Australia for one.
Interestingly enough is the fact that a ‘MotoXprt’ in the support forums at Motorola made it quite clear that the delay to the update will not just affect Australia, other regions will also be affected and the announcement rolling in shortly. Could this mean that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will also be delayed in the US? We heard Verizon state it was already released but too date haven’t received any messages from any of our readers that they have gotten it. The end of Q2 is now just over a week away and users in the US are bearing in mind that soak test invites were sent out to owners of the Motorola Droid RAZR. Maybe there is a chance that a major bug was spotted and Verizon plans to break the news on Monday?.
On a side note, an update regarding the delay was given out for the US as well albeit not a very clear one, reports DroidLife. Another source said that the update will go ahead on 22nd June and Verizon have posted support documents for the update in the US with the build number being 6.16.211.
