The Samsung Galaxy S3 is arguably the most talked about smartphone available on the market right now. Hype aside though, what’s the verdict? Let’s check out what tech pundits from around the web had to say about the Samsung Galaxy S3 in our reviews roundup.
Samsung Galaxy S3 review roundup
Trusted Reviews said it was light years ahead of Apple’s phone while TechRadar said “forget about the iPhone 4S”. The iPhone 4S was also termed an “ageing starlet” according to Stuff Magazine. To be fair the iPhone is getting on a little in the world of tech at 9 months old. It is thought that Apple will be releasing a newer version of the iPhone sometime later in the year (iPhone 5), which is another reason not to go out and buy the iPhone 4S.
Another handset to fade with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 was the One X from HTC. Stuff Magazine was asked about the S3 by The Mail Online. They said it was slickest experience on the Android platform that they had seen thanks to Ice Cream Sandwich and the Exynos 1.4GHz quad core processor, which delivers movies in 1080p and can play in a pop out window at the same time as you browse the internet. Other things which set it apart from the One X include the microSD card slot and the battery, which is larger. The Super AMOLED screen at 4.8 inch is superb and is vibrant and sharp.
The look of the phone has not received as much praise as the specs, with the back of the handset letting it down with the glossy plastic look. However there are many more positives about the phone and these make up for it. Trusted Review went as far as saying that the Galaxy S3 looks down on the iPhone and laughs at it.
Pocket Lint made favourable comments about the Galaxy S3 having a removable battery and microSD card slot, these features have been left out from a lot of other phones, including the iPhone 4S.
Tech Radar did pay the Galaxy S3 many compliments, but they did express a preference for the One X based on the metallic case when weighed up against the plastic back of the S3. For now Apple are not in contention, however this may change with the release of the iPhone 5, hopefully in the fall.
