Both Verizon and Motorola have just 15 days left to ensure that customers get the Android 4.0 update on the DROID RAZR and RAZR MAXX, if they are to keep in line with the deadline of Q2 they imposed on themselves. However it does seem that at least owners of the Motorola RAZR will see the update before then as they have received a text from Verizon saying that the update is coming.
Verizon Motorola DROID RAZR & MAXX Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update coming
The text message said that the phones will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the Verizon Wireless Mobile IM app will be removed as it does not have support for ICS. It goes on to ask users to download a new app for instant messaging and thanks them for using Mobile IM.
A few leaked builds have arrived on some Motorola DROID RAZR handsets during the past month and this suggests that both carriers are working hard to get the update ready in the proposed timeframe.
On a side note, the Motorola DROID RAZR HD is rumored to hit Verizon Wireless this summer. It is expected to come preloaded with Android 4.0 and solely rely on Ice Cream Sandwich on-screen keys.
