AT&T’s US Exclusivity On Samsung Galaxy Note Ending, Finally

The Samsung Galaxy Note is being prepped for its second US release after the exclusivity AT&T had for all these months appears to be coming to an end. TheDroidGuy reports that the fourth largest carrier in the US, T-Mobile, has its version of the Samsung Galaxy Note grace the FCC website, listed in disguise as the SGH-T879.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note to end AT&T exclusivity

The handset is thought to be for T-Mobile as there have been numerous images floating around online of the device with the brand name on it. Of course T-Mobile is a little behind as the handset has been available since 2011 and one might ask why they would want to release the handset now when the Samsung Galaxy S3 is making its debut in the US very soon. However approval has been given for the device on the 1700MHz HSPA band and this will work on the 3G network of T-Mobile.

If T-Mobile gets the Samsung Galaxy Note it will be first device with the “phablet” name on the carrier and will be in the company of the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Blaze 4G, plus other upcoming Samsung Androids (Samsung Galaxy S3 and unnamed Samsung Android slider).

Perhaps they are counting on the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note has proven to be very popular after all Samsung have managed to sell over five million of the devices since they launched it in July.  On a side note, rumors of a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note continue to surface albeit no hard evidence just yet.
