The Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus update has been available for a week now and we have seen enough to be able to say that the device has been improved by the update.
Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.4 update: first hand impressions
Verizon announced early this month that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was finally to be updated to Android 4.0.4, something which owners of the handset had been waiting to hear for a long time. On reading the changelog there was some concern as problems some users were having had not been listed. There was no need to worry though as following the upgrade users should now have a phone that they should have had from the get go. Some of the problems with the phone had been:
Rebooting randomly, Microphone cutting out, Handset crashing, Battery life very poor, Problems with the connection; and sluggishness with the overall phone.
On applying the update it seemed to put an end to the above issues with not a single reboot on day one. Neither were there any problems with calls and the microphone nor was the user interface sluggish. Apps didn’t crash and battery life was improved, it was a miracle.
To date the handset has continued to work just fine although an issue with the microphone did crop up, which may suggest it is a software issue. Apps are still working fine as are the connections with no trade off issues and the handset has not crashed, battery life is still tolerable. The mobile hotspot feature now also works a treat, so if you a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, upgrade today.
