Despite any mention of the iPhone 5 at the WWDC 2012, a video has surfaced online of what is said to be the first look at the long awaited iPhone 5… or is it? According to CNET, the video was uploaded to YouTube by someone working at ETradeSupply who says that he is holding the body of the iPhone 5.
Purported iPhone 5 body leaked in hands-on video
The body of the phone seems to be a lot thinner than that of the iPhone 4 and 4S and it also looks taller. This adds fuel to speculations that the metal unibody of the iPhone 5 would be taller and thinner but would have the same width. If this is indeed the iPhone 5 body would this mean that the screen is 4-inches, as speculated, rather than the 3.5-inches which is seen on the iPhones today.
Another interesting point is the chassis of the iPhone 5 in the video. This also seems to confirm all the rumors that have been going around that Apple would move the headphone socket to the bottom of the handset as opposed to the top, where it currently is on the iPhone 4S (like the iPod nano). The chassis in the video also has a small dock connector and this was another feature that was rumored to be coming to the new iPhone 5.
The video comes after numerous leaked photos of what were said to be the iPhone 5 over the last few weeks. All of them showed the same features as the handset in this new video, including the aluminum back plate of the phone. Apple have yet to confirm there is a new iPhone in the pipeline or when it will be revealed so for now we will have to wait and see. Apple have been contacted by CNET and they have yet to comment on the video. Whatever it is, we love the new color-coded look of this purported iPhone 5 and think it is about time Apple consider expanding the size of the iPhone screen while dropping the weight by a margin.
