When we look at upcoming Verizon phones worth waiting for, three particular devices come to mind: the Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 5 and the Motorola DROID RAZR HD.
Luckily the international Samsung Galaxy S3 model has been officially revealed, ending speculations that have been running to date. As for the Verizon iPhone 5, there is little to no physical evidence suggesting what it might bring (and when). That leave the Motorola DROID RAZR HD which as become the poster child of superphone leaks. To date, we’ve seen numerous leaked images of the device, EXIF data, benchmarks and even supposed leaks from a Motorola employee. So here’s a roundup of what we “know” so far about the Motorola DROID RAZR HD.
Upcoming Verizon phones: Motorola DROID RAZR HD rumors
Based on all the leaks to date, what we’re basically looking at is a next-generation Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX. Now it must be noted that while the device appears to be an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, if rumors serve true then it will be more than capable of going up with the likes of the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3.
Starting off with the exterior, it will follow the design cues of the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX and even take on that 3,300mAh battery that has made the MAXX one of the most popular smartphones on Verizon. Other upgrades include a 13-megapixel rear camera which was verified by leaked EXIF data from a Motorola employee. Other details include a a 4.7-inch screen with a 720p display, similar to the HTC One X. To top it off, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S3 the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX will completely rely on Android 4.0 ICS’s on-screen keys. The Galaxy S3 as we know retains the physical homebutton. An added advantage of this is that there is no wasted space around the bezel to accommodate for these buttons, keeping the dimensions of the RAZR HD tight. We can once again expect a super-slim form factor which the RAZR brand is known for.
Unfortunately, there is no information about a possible release date so at this time the best we can hope for is somewhere in the summer. There are no signs of any other Motorola devices headed to Verizon Wireless at the moment other than a blue Motorola DROID RAZR so we can expect the RAZR HD to likely be next in line. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
