The Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to go head to head with the likes of the HTC One X, LG Viper, Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX and iPhone 4S. And if rumors of its late June release in stores hold true, then it may find itself set for a collision course with the Motorola DROID Fighter and even possibly the iPhone 5. However with the Galaxy S3 garnering up more hype than any other Android smartphone at the moment, it looks like Samsung may not have much to worry about. Or so we think.
Samsung Galaxy S3 specs rumored to be similar to the HTC One X
Given that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is getting a lot of publicity at this time and customer expectations are reaching an all new high, there is the possibility that Samsung may not be able to live up to the hype. In other words, too much hype may in fact set it up to fail if it doesn’t really have revolutionary upgrade. The folks over at PlanetInsane report that, “sources within the telecom industry in the UK have reportedly revealed that aside from an increase in its speed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature eye-tracking technology. However, the same sources have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be an incremental upgrade from the previous version of the smartphone.”
So there is the odd chance that Samsung won’t be launching a new Galaxy S3 that’s been redesigned from the ground up. The same source adds that it will have similar features as the HTC One X. This too is disappointing as the HTC One X packs an 8-megapixel camera, 1GB RAM and 1080p display, all of which are a far cry from what the Samsung Galaxy S3 is rumored to deliver.
Lastly, the source states that it won’t be called the Samsung Galaxy “S3” and instead follow the same fashion that the New iPad took.
If the Samsung Galaxy S3 ends up being an incremental upgrade only, would you still opt for one? Sound off in the comments below.
