As we move further into 2012, Sprint is expected to add more LTE capable devices to its lineup. With the carrier expected to launch LTE in 3 more major cities by the summer followed by a bigger rollout in the fall, it comes as no surprise that Sprint’s latest line of top-tiered Android phones come LTE equipped.
Sprint Motorola Photon Q joining Samsung Galaxy Nexus & HTC EVO 4G LTE in 2012?
The latest rumor comes by way of PocketNow who have stumbled upon details of a possibly successor the Sprint Motorola Photon. Dubbed the Motorola Photon Q, it is expected to join the HTC EVO 4G LTE and Samsung Galaxy Nexus later this year. Details are scarce about its hardware but speculations are already swarming the web as to what the ‘Q’ may stand for.
Word on the street is that the ‘Q’ could refer to a QWERTY keyboard. Sprint in the pass has use the ‘Q’ for their front-facing QWERTY keyboard Windows Mobile devices. With the Sprint Epic 4G Touch dumping its QWERTY keyboard which made its predecessor quite popular (Epic 4G), the Motorola Photon Q may fill a void in the top-end range.
With the Motorola DROID 4 doing well on Verizon as the sole high-end Android smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard, the Motorola Photon Q may be able to steal some customers away, especially given that Sprint is currently offering unlimited LTE data plans.
