The Samsung Galaxy S3 is without a doubt the most hyped Android smartphone of 2012. While we’ve seen other high-end smartphone rumors surface, the Samsung Galaxy S3 still seems to take the spotlight. So is there anything that could steal the thunder behind the Samsung Galaxy S3? Read on.
Samsung Galaxy S3
Samsung and its Galaxy brand have become famous the world over and with it revealed some of the company’s inner workings. For one, Samsung tries to use in-house components as much as possible with its Galaxy branded phones. Secondly they tend to adopt similar architecture depending on their year of release. A good example would be the current generation of Galaxy phones – the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Note boasts a larger display and capacitive pen support but in reality it is identical to the Samsung Galaxy S2.
While on the subject of the Samsung Galaxy Note, despite the age of the phone/tablet hybrid and the initial criticism from tech pundits, it continues to sell extremely well as it has no direct competition. The 4.3-inch Samsung Galaxy S2 with its dual-core processor and 8-megapixel camera on the other hand has competition from the likes of the HTC Sensation and Motorola DROID RAZR. And with the case of the Samsung Galaxy S3, we can once again expect other similar sized smartphones with matching processing power and cameras to fight over the same buyers (e.g. Motorola DROID Blade which is a larger screen DROID RAZR MAXX with Android 4.0, and the HTC One X of course). What would remain unscathed though would be a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 inevitable
While I am excited about the Samsung Galaxy S3, a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that would adopt the same architecture as the S3 just as we saw the current generation of both smartphones, would mean another unique and powerful smartphone on the market. If Samsung Galaxy S3 rumors serve true, we could see a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with an Exynos 5250, 2GB RAM, 12-megapixel camera and more capacitive supporting apps (Samsung is currently running a competition for developers to create more unique stylus-supported apps).
With Samsung recently announcing that they sold over 5 million Galaxy Notes in the past 5 months, you know their working on a Galaxy Note 2 already. Would you be more interested in a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 if its boasts the same next-generation hardware as the S3 but with Note’s extra features and size?
