As we approach the second quarter of 2012, more next-generation smartphones are being leaked and with it, making phone buyers think twice about settling on last year’s flagship models.
In 2011, the Samsung Galaxy S2, iPhone 4S, HTC Sensation and Motorola DROID RAZR ruled the nest. Now in 2012, their successors are already starting to line up. Here are 4 upcoming smartphones to look out for in 2012.
Upcoming smartphones (2012): Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Blade, iPhone 5, HTC One X
Starting off with the grandaddy of the Android smartphone world, the Samsung Galaxy S3, this is arguably the most hyped about Android phone of 2012. Speculations suggest a quad-core Exynos chip, 12-megapixel rear camera, 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display, whopping 2GB RAM, LTE, NFC and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a new version of TouchWiz.
Its biggest rival will have to be the iPhone 5 which if speculations serve true, will share many of the same upgrades found in the Galaxy S3. This includes a 12-megapixel shooter, A6 quad-core processor, LTE, NFC, larger display and more RAM.
Next we have the HTC One X, the only ‘superphone’ on this list with confirmed specs: 4.7-inch Super LCD HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 1.5GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip, 1GB RAM and an 8-megapixel shooter with f2.0 aperture.
Rounding it off is the Motorola Blade a.k.a DROID Fighter which is identical to the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX but includes a larger 4.6-inch HD Display, a rear camera in the range of 8 to 13-megapixels, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on-screen buttons.
All 4 smartphones are not expected to arrive in the US anytime before the summer, with the HTC One X expected to be first to shelves.
