While the weekend has arrived, the battle between Android, iPhone and Windows Phone 7 continues to rage on, this time bringing a little of the Hunger Games into the mix.
Have an iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S2 or other speedy smartphone? Microsoft challenges you
Microsoft will be holding a “Smoked by Windows Phone” challenge at all of their 14 Microsoft stores this week which could see you walking out with a $1,000 valued “Hunger Games” Special Edition PC.
The challenge is quite simple. Microsoft lets you pit your current Android, iPhone (and even BlackBerry) phones against their Windows Phone 7 device in a speed test. As CNET explains though, this is no simple speed test:
“The rules have even more specificities. Microsoft limits the areas in which the challenge will be made: “Pocket-to-Picture-to-Post, Real-Time Information with Live Tiles, Using the People Hub to Stay in Touch with the People You Care About Most, Updating Your Status Across Multiple Social Networks, and Local Scout (‘Challenge’).”
Win a Hunger Games edition PC or a new Windows Phone 7 handset
So if you think your high powered iPhone 4S or Android Samsung Galaxy S2, Motorola DROID RAZR, Galaxy Nexus, and any other speedy phone has what it take, then head on down to the Microsoft Store now. If you win, you get a Hunger Games Special Edition PC. If you lose, your current handset will be swapped for a Windows Phone for free (that’s right, free as is no contract other than giving your rights to appear in their ad).
Given that these tests are geared towards what the WP7 platform is best at compared to say a simple Web Browser test, you current smartphone may just get smoked. Whose up for the challenge?
