Canon has gone ahead and officially announced one of the most anticipated DSLRs of all time, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

The EOS 5D Mark III is a full-frame DSLR with a 22.3 megapixel sensor and new DIGIC 5+ processor. This new generation EOS 5D boasts a much more precise 61-point autofocusing system and can shoot at up to 6fps at its full resolution.
Other improvements include a much wider sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 25,600 in normal shooting, versus the previous 1D-level ISO 102,400 at peak. Users will now also have an SDXC card slot in addition to the primary CompactFlash slot.
Video shooting sticks at 1080p however it is now capable of running up to ISO 12,800 with newer forms of H.264 video compression. This means improved editing and file size.
Canon will reportedly have the 5D Mark III in stores by the end of this month with prices of the body only at $3,499, while the standard 24-105mm f4 L kit will set you back $4,299.
