Blizzard is set to introduce something special, well at least when it comes to being expensive as the World of Warcraft expansion pack that gives an instant ticket to level 90 comes in at $60.
One of the features in World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is an increase in level to level 100. Now of course this is a lot of levels to jump, especially if you are starting at level one. Every expansion comes with one bump up for one character, which will let you go to level 90, the previous level cap, taking you to the end game content.
However it could be said that this is going to devaluate the work of all players who got to level 90 on their own merits. However there is no getting away from the fact that this is awfully time consuming.
The issue starts when Blizzard offers just the one bump up to level 90 and if you want another you are expected to reach into your pocket and pay out a massive $60 for another. Blizzard are extorting people, these are the same tactics that free to play games have and are something that Blizzard said they wanted to avoid, allowing gamers to pay to win the game. They are rewarding those who are able to throw money their way, while at the same time punishing those who cannot.
This is shameful on their part as they do say that they are maintaining the value in the levelling process. It does look as though it’s more a case of them being worried about the subscriber numbers falling. But what do you think?
