One of the most anticipated games coming this year is Watch Dogs. The open world game where the protagonist is a powerful hacker is on the wishlist of every avid gamer. Watch Dogs was supposed to arrive last year but since the next-gen console got released, Ubisoft has delayed the game’s debut.
After a long spell of silence, Watch Dogs began to show signs of cracks. It is not with the game. Instead, the developers managing Watch Dogs are in a mess. A trademark for the game got filed on the February the 1st last week. While it was thought to be a common procedure for game developers, Yves Guillemot denies signing the documents.
The Ubisoft employee claims that his signature found on those papers are forged and he denied signing them. Ubisoft stepped into the light backing up Guillemot claiming that the CEO did not sign the Request for Express Abandonment.
Fans who are anticipating Watch Dogs need not worry as Ubisoft assures these issues won’t affect the game’s development. The game developer has been working closely with USPTO to reinstate Watch Dogs’ trademark. This can be a relatively easy task. However, with Guillemot signature in the way, things have become much more difficult. Ubisoft was given a period of 30 days to sort everything out.
As of this moment, Ubisoft has filed all the necessary documentation and reacquired its patent.
