Twitch Play Pokemon Beats Elite Four, Creates A Thousand Pokemasters

One of the biggest internet phenomena is with Twitch. The website was created so long ago and it offered the world the opportunity to play a Pokemon game on the site itself. The special catch is, the world has to work together to complete the game.

Two games got hosted by the website and it is Pokemon Red & Blue. However, it didn’t take long for the webmasters to take down Blue and left Red intact. After 16 days of play, the Elite 4 is finally defeated and the world did the impossible which is working together to complete a Pokemon game. Over 1.1 million players participated which totals up to 36million views on Twitch.

It might sound confusing on how one game is being played by the entire world. When on Twitch, Pokemon Red will be loaded. There is a command box at the side of the live screen where players can key in their username and type a command. There isn’t much buttons used in a Pokemon game. Players can simply key in a, b, up, down, left, right, start or select at any point. Of course, the command is continuously competing with millions of others. At times, it can take hours to defeat a single trainer.

There is no denying that Twitch is creative when it comes to engaging the gaming industry. Now that Pokemon Red is done and dealt with, the next Pokemon game is revealed to be coming this Sunday morning. The Australian creator is overwhelmed by the response and will give the game a much needed upgrade. Now, players can choose between democracy and anarchy.

In democracy, the most voted commands will be used. In anarchy, it will be an all-out chaos to control the protagonist.

All in all, this Pokemon craze on Twitch is certainly an eye-opener. Nintendo clearly needs to create an online Pokemon world for the huge Pokemon community.
