We have heard reports which seen to suggest that owners of the pre-release versions of the PS4 are having issues with the HDMI ports and this has led to problems with the display.
From what we can gather from the reports these are issues which lead to the bricking of the PS4 and are related to the HHD.
Kotaku has seen issues with their PS4 and this was confirmed by Sony. However the cause of the issue, the HDMI port, can be fixed.
By all accounts Sony believe that the problem lies with a piece of metal found in the HDMI port of the PS4, which has been raised up and bent back and this seems to stop the HDMI cables from plugging in correctly.
Sony managed to get a pin into the port and they pushed the metal down, which seemed to remedy the issue.
Of course this doesn’t mean that if you are having the same issue you should go poking around in the HDMI port of the PS4 to fix it. Instead it might be wise to return the machine to wherever you got it from.
At the moment it isn’t clear if the issue will be widespread once the console is unleashed onto the market. It hasn’t explained the issues with the display, which some people have also come across.
This news is not what the many millions of people who have ordered the PlayStation and who are waiting to get their hands on it, want to hear. Are you among these people and are you not biting your nails waiting to see if your PS4 has been affected by issues?
