A large patch was recently revealed for NBA 2K14 but despite this 2K Games said that players are locked out of NBA 2K14 content thanks to issues with servers. A connection to the server isn’t needed to access all the content in the game, but it is needed for dealing with virtual money.
Virtual money is used by players to buy goods and attributes for custom players. It is also needed for modes such as NBA Today and MyTeam. If the game fails to connect to the 2K servers players are locked out of the game.
While an update has fixed many issues with connection, problems still remain for the private TeamUp matches along with MyTeam. Ronnie Singh of 2K Games took to Twitter to give status updates while the developers continue to remedy server issues. The PS3 an Xbox 360 version was described as being good to go and it was said that the Xbox One and PS4 version should work within the next few hours.
