Mass Effect 4 Is Coming & Not As We Know It

We’ve seen an IGN report in which BioWare talks about Mass Effect 4 being quite unrelated to the previous three episodes. Lead writer of Mass effect 3, Mac Walters, said in an interview with Complex that the studio wanted Mass Effect 4 to stand alone.

Walters said also that the new game wouldn’t even be called Mass Effect 4, and that it would have no relation to Commander Shepard, the face of the first three games, at all.

Despite all these changes, the new game won’t feel like a spin-off, which is reassuring. So we know what won’t be coming, but not what will be coming.

BioWare got a lot of criticism for the ending of Mass Effect 3, but the company put the record straight with the Extended Ct DLC. There are no plans to add anything else now, as the dev team has moved onto the new game.

Walters touched upon the divided responses to the ending of Mass Effect 3. Some players loved it, others thought it was just plain unsatisfactory, and still others found it very emotional. Walters said he thought the ending was right for the commander.

The fourth installment is behind the curtains for now, then, The director of BioWare Montreal did say that everyone was working hard and so there’d be some news very soon.
