It is a pity that the Half Life community has been absorbing a lot of provocations from other gamers. This is due to the fact that they have continuously waited for Half Life 3 to arrive. That wait has reached a 10 years period now and there is still no sign for this third sequel.
Just a month ago, Valve’s co-founder, Gabe Newell, stepped out of the shadows and finally talked about Half Life 3. The lad revealed that Valve started off as a single-player video game developer and Half Life is the most successful product they’ve created.
As for the long wait, Newell claims that the company realized that they want to change the direction Valve is taking. Since then, the game developer has been making multiplayer titles.
Newell added that Valve then got internally divided. Parts of the company wish to develop Half Life 2 while the rest are focusing on developing Steam. The latter has proved to be a major success today and as such, the team of developer from Valve has been sticking to Steam.
Newell also revealed that there is no interest for Half Life anymore. The lad expressed this by claiming that being a good Half Life designer is not as valued as how to design a great multiplayer game.
The fans are clearly upset upon learning this. However, the co-founder revealed that the fans have been the determining factor for the company to make their decisions. Having said that, there is still a chance for Valve to produce Half Life 3 as that is what the fans have been demanding all along.
