We recently saw a leak from a database that told us that the Source engine 2 was being made and it will become the platform for the next generation games from Valve. Also in the list fans picked up on Half Life 3, which they have been waiting to hear about for more than ten years.
The list did restore hope for Half Life 3 and fans were over the moon to hear that the Source 2 engine could be used. Actually there could not be any better way to show off a new game engine that by testing it with an AAA game.
Half Life 3 may be able to offer a vast open world which would allow for plenty of exploration. The Source engine 2 should be able to make Half Life 3 start off with a big bang.
Consider this scenario….Half Life 3 starts off with a chopper gunner mission and you are in a helicopter shooting down at targets on the ground. This would show off the Source 2 engine at its best. The viewing distance would be longer and details in the scene would be superb thanks to the Source 2 engine. If Half Life 3 started out like this and it continued in the same trend throughout the game it would take the game of the year for sure.
However for now there hasn’t been any word on when we can expect development of Half Life 3 from Valve, so for now we will just keep on dreaming.
