Hackers have been attacking GTA Online and manipulating the game to their own end. Hackers have been dishing out unlimited amounts of cash to players fixing bounties, which has left the GTA Online economy in ruin.
Shortly after the New year Rockstar made their presence be known and held anyone caught cheating in a different lobby away from the rest of the GTA population.
They have said that anyone who got money unintentionally will be safe from the automatic ban and as days passed, the amount of hackers in GTA Online was reduced.
Reddit said that Rockstar are going to move into the next phase to restore the balance to the game. The developer is said to be doing a system wide removal of all modded money that has been gifted to gamers. We know this due to email received by gamers who raised the issue with support at Rockstar.
The email showed that the ticket update is going to inform players about the developers plans to remove the illegal money from the bank account of gamers. Rockstar has also assured gamers that a patch will be released to make the GTA Online community safe from hackers. The email is posted below.
The popular think that Rockstar will look back into the transaction history and put the player’s bank balance back to how it should be. They have dropped hints that Rockstar could create a bot and this would handle the task automatically.
Any purchases from hacked money hopefully will not be taken away, fans are hoping that these would be seen to be a gift from Rockstar.
The email reads as follows:
You are receiving this automatic ticket update because you have an open ticket in the Rockstar Support system related to GTA Online modding, cheating, or hacking. We have received a large number of complaints over the past few weeks about cheaters gifting large amounts of GTA$ to others, setting bounty rewards outside game limits, or otherwise attempting to tamper with the GTA Online economy.
We have deployed several hotfixes to prevent this type of activity, and will be adding further cheat protection in future Title Updates as well. Players who willingly cheated to create this illegitimate influx of in-game currency have been separated out from the rest of the population and we are continuing to monitor for suspicious activity. If you were the unwilling recipient of an impossibly large amount of GTA$, you do not need to worry about us taking action against your account. However, please be aware that we will be making community-wide automatic adjustments to players’ account balances to remove the modded money.
