Who knew that playing games could cost a fortune? The latest FIFA 14 had become a mother’s nightmare after her teenage son spent UK$4,000 on the in-game purchases.
The 13-year old boy had been busy buying “Player Packs” in the highly popular football game that bills up to UK$1,000 in the pace of 24 hours.
The mother, Sue, was furious with the charge and brought the matter to light. On a statement to BBC, Sue calls for more controls in place to ensure the cardholder or adult is notified of every transaction and such.
At the moment, there has yet to be a response from EA on the matter.
Such a case will definitely be used by most gamers out there in a movement to stop microtransactions in video games. This feature has been a growing trend from game developer to leech out every cent from the players.
