Everyone knows that the Volkswagen diesel emission scandal just happened recently, but several people claim that they have known it way before, and nobody was listening. It turns out that in the past few years, the German automaker diesel engines in the 2.0-liter class have been emitting the NOx at much higher than allowed levels.
Presented at the 25th CRC Real World Emission Workshop in Long Beach, California, researchers said that the emissions from the 2.0-liter-class diesel engines were significantly higher than what the USEPA Tier 2 emission standards allowed.
The same data showed that cars using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) worked to reduce NOx, with some systems working better than others.
Thus, if the data has been revealed for the past six years? Who hasn’t nobody care enough to pay attention? The good thing is, at least the diesel scandal has finally blurted out to the public. Well, Volkswagen can’t hide the issue forever.
