Here in the US, pickup trucks are considered as the national icon and it comes with the slogan, “the bigger, the better”. Soon, Volkswagen will be looking to launch a pickup truck of their own and it is going to be very different from how we perceive pickup trucks.
In detail, the upcoming pickup truck is said to be based on the TRISTAR concept model that was unveiled at the last IAA truck show. If you are to check out the vehicle, then you will know by what we mean when we describe it as uniquely different.
For starters, the TRISTAR does not have any muscles to flaunt like how it is for every American-bred pickup truck. Instead, the TRISTAR has the front of a minivan and an open bed attached to its tail.
Focusing on the practicality of the pickup truck, we can’t disagree with the drawer feature situated under the bed as it offers additional storage space that is also waterproof.
In addition to that, the TRISTAR runs on the 4WD-system. Together with a new set of suspensions, the pickup truck wouldn’t mind if it is not driven on the tarmacs.
The special thing about the TRISTAR is its interior, which has ample room for a table and a coffee maker. There is also a nice 20” tablet computer which support video conferencing. Under the hood, the TRISTAR is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel, and features a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
Clearly, the TRISTAR concept is not an everyday sight. It may be difficult to accept the TRISTAR for what it is but on the other hand, it will be interesting to see how our fellow Americans feedback on the VW TRISTAR.
