Being the biggest carrier in the US does not mean Verizon is good enough to sell Google’s new flagship smartphone, the Nexus 5.
This news in confirmed by the senior vice president of Android, Sundar Pinchai. Pinchai said that Verizon’s network doesn’t support the Google Nexus 5. No, its not Google sulking over the fact that Verizon denied that they support the Nexus 7 and then refused to activate the Nexus 7 even after Google pointed out that Verizon supports the tablet during the I/O 2013.
Previously, Verizon had failed to support other phones that runs on pure Android such as the Google Nexus 4 as pointed out by Pinchai. The Nexus 4 does not support LTE which caused Verizon to unable to be its network service provider. However, surprisingly the Nexus 5 will work on Sprint’s network
Sundar Pinchai’s announcement on the news did not cut off Verizon from Google though. Pinchai had also mentioned that Google and Verizon are working on numerous projects for 2014. The Nexus 5 is currently available on Sprint and T-Mobile. AT&T’s GSM network supports Nexus 5 but it has not yet announced whether the company will be selling Nexus 5 in their retail shops.
