If you are the owner of a Toyota Camry, Sienna, Avalon or Highlander, we’re afraid we’ve got some bad news for you. Earlier today, Toyota launched a mass recall of its vehicles here in the US over a suspected fuel leak problem.
In detail, the Japanese carmaker revealed that the issue affects all their vehicles that run on the 2GR-FE engine. Aside from the aforementioned vehicles, the Lexus RX too will have to be taken back to the workshop.
It is understood that the source of the problem is with the fuel deliver pipe. Toyota said that “the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment could have been insufficiently welded during manufacturing at the supplier. In this condition, fuel could leak from the fuel delivery pipe and, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.”
If the leak is to happen, it puts the car at high risk for a fire. The good news is that there has yet to be any mishaps caused by the issue.
Also, owners of the vehicles with the suspected faults have been personally notified by Toyota and they are advised to visit a Toyota workshop to get the necessary replacement parts without any charges.
