Toyota, being the second largest car manufacturer in the world, comes with a great plan to reduce the carbon emissions of its vehicles to nearly zero by 2050. This good move is part of the company’s support for environment-friendly vehicles. The Japanese automobile is committed to producing eco-friendly vehicles.
The 78 year old carmaker (yes, they’re that old) is currently aiming to sell 30, 000 of its fuel-cell automobiles by 2020. Toyota’s fuel-cell technology powers the car using electricity generated from the mixture of oxygen, which is taken from the air that goes in from the front intake grills and hydrogen that is stored in tanks with the vehicle. The chemical reaction is the result of two gases that meet in the fuel cell stacks.
It was reported that 350 Toyota Mirai were already sold, which is in line with the carmaker’s milestone of its full-cell car. The Japanese company is also going to boost the Toyota Mirai’s production to 2, 000 and 3, 000 in two years’ time.
We’re glad that a lot of carmakers have taken their own initiatives to make car users to choose eco-friendly cars over diesel cars. Great move, Toyota. Keep it up.
