Winter tyres can be really costly as prices tend to hike up during the season. Word has it that it is always cheaper to get a 16” tyre than a 17”. Well, this is really true. There is a big gap in prices for 17” and 16” tyres. Furthermore, the narrower the tyre is, the better it is on snowy conditions.
We recommend getting the 205/65R16 tyres or the 265/70/16 a/t tyres. The former is about 0.4” taller which makes it easier to drive on deep, loose snow, while the latter is compatible for all seasons.
It is also important to take into account on the sort of winter you are going to face. If it is the deep loose snow, aim for skinny and tall tyres. If you will find yourselves in dense snowy conditions, getting wide tyres is highly recommended.
