Ford has already confirmed that it will be updating the Explorer with a brand new model that sports a new look. Today, car junkies can catch a glimpse of this upcoming vehicle after spy shots of it got leaked online.
When viewing the shots, you will see the Explorer with camouflage wrapping the front and rear section only. Just from that information, it is safe to assume that the covered areas are where the changes are.
Even when in disguise, Ford failed to hide the new looking front grille and headlamps. Also, the shape of the front bumpers arrived with new-looking fog lamps that are positioned higher than the existing rounded spotlights.
The same sort of changes is applied at the rear sections as we are able to spot new light clusters, tailgate and bumper designs. Unfortunately, we have no clue on what sort of interior will be featuring on the Ford Explorer and also, the engines that will be towing the vehicle.
However, if rumours are to be believed, the SUV will be powered by a redesigned 2L turbocharged EcoBoost engine that will offer better fuel economy and power than the existing 240hp 2L engine on the existing model. The new mill is said to run on the AWD system.
In addition to that, there is a possibility that Ford might also offer the Explorer with a new turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost that delivers 300hp. Of course, this will be confirmed when the Ford Explorer gets unveiled late next year.
