When it comes to high quality Android devices, there is no challenging Sony. The latest Z2 exhibits the finest built quality on a smartphone but is it any better than the slightly newer LG G3?
In terms of display, the latter sports a larger 5.5” screen that offers a whopping 538ppi. This is 27% sharper than the 424ppi offered on the Z2’s 5.2” screen. However, the larger screen on the G3 means that it drains the battery at a faster rate. The smartphone’s 3000mAh battery couldn’t keep up with the larger 3200mAh battery on the Z2.
Under the hood, both devices are equal on every front as they run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. However, things are totally different when it comes to cameras.
The LG is equipped with a decent 13MP rear camera and 2.1MP front shooter. However, this is no match for the Z2’s 20.7MP rear camera and 2.2MP front shooter. Nevertheless, both smartphones are able to record videos at 4K format.
The Z2 also have the added advantage of being both water and dust resistant. This makes it more versatile and sturdy when compared to the LG G3.
While it might be tough to pull out a winner in this contest, we feel that victory belongs to the Xperia Z2. After all, we don’t see the point of enjoying a truly rich screen on a battery life that is below satisfactory.
